Onsite Counselling Supports for Employees and their Families Impacted by the Wildfire

EFAP Trauma Counsellors continue to be on-site on the main floor of the Fort McMurray Provincial Building at 9915 Franklin Avenue to support all APS employees located in the Fort McMurray / Wood Buffalo region. No appointments are required, and the counsellors are available two days per week throughout February as follows:

Tuesdays and Wednesdays
10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Lynn Bryan Room: February 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 & March 1

Employees and their family members can also schedule an in-person, telephone, video conference or e-counselling appointment by calling the EFAP's toll-free number 1-800-268-5211 or going to www.workhealthlife.com.

Your EFAP

The EFAP is a confidential and voluntary support service available at no cost to all Government of Alberta employees and their immediate family members. The program helps individuals find solutions to all kinds of challenges at any age and stage of life. The services are delivered by Shepell, a leading provider of employee assistance programs across Canada. Regardless of location in Alberta or Canada, you and eligible family members can receive support over the telephone, in person, online and through a variety of self-guided resources.

Trauma Assist Program NEW icon

First hand exposure or being a witness to a traumatic event can have a profound effect on people. Shepell’s Trauma Assist Program is designed to help individuals affected by post-traumatic stress by providing confidential access to specialized care to treat and build resiliency through a network of services and resources. Through assessment and treatment over approximately 10 - 12 sessions, individuals can get help with coping strategies and be better able to manage symptoms that are impacting their lives. There is no cost to employees and the service is completely confidential. Individuals experiencing symptoms following a traumatic event can contact Shepell directly at 1-800-268-5211.
